Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
– Revelation 22:14
Thoughts on Today’s Verse…
God blew the breath of life into man, so that man became a living being with a spirit. God is the source of man’s life, and for all things. In Genesis, it is said that Adam and Eve lived in the Garden of Eden, and they can eat the fruit of the tree of life. If people can get the authority to reach the tree of life, then they will once again enter the Garden of Eden and meet the Lord. So what should we do to do His commandments? For God is holy, we must also become holy so that we can deserve to see the Lord. God asks us to do His commandments, that is to say, He wants to make us get rid of our sins and reach holiness. Only such kind of person is blessed and can enter the kingdom of God and may enter in through the gate of the city. What should we do to cast away our sins and reach holiness? Although the Lord Jesus forgave our sins as a sin offering, we are still able to sin and resist God, and we have not truly attained sanctity. I remember the Bible said: “Who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us” (2 Corinthians 1:10). It seems that we still need God’s further salvation to attain sanctity.
My Prayer…
O Lord, though I have accepted Your redemption, I have not attained purity yet, still live in a cycle of committing sins, then making confession, not eligible to enter Your kingdom. May You save us again. May You enlighten me so that I can understand Your words and work more and accept Your further salvation. Amen.
