As for such as turn aside to their crooked ways, the LORD shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity:
– Psalm 125:5
Thoughts on Today’s Verse…
This verse shows us those who are crooked, deceitful, and evil will be punished by God. From this, we know that God loathes those who are crooked and deceitful the most as the evildoers, and that it reveals God’s substance of righteousness, holiness, and faithfulness. Those who are crooked and deceitful don’t love the truth or positive things, and besides, they are skilled at pretending, and often lie and deceive God. Whatever they do, they have personal intentions and aims, and conduct a transaction with God. They treat God without a sincere heart. Thus, they will be ruined by their petty cleverness, and punished by God. God treats us mankind wholeheartedly without falsity and pretense. For this reason, God requires us not to be deceitful people but to be honest. This is determined by God’s substance of holiness, righteousness, and faithfulness. Just as God says, “God’s will for mankind is how He requires people to be, what He requires them to do, how He requires them to live, and how He requires them to be capable of accomplishing the fulfillment of God’s will. Are these things inseparable from the substance of God? In other words, God issues forth His disposition and all that He has and is at the same time as making demands of man. There is no falsity, no pretense, no concealment, and no embellishment.” “God has the substance of faithfulness, and so His word can always be trusted. Furthermore, His actions are faultless and unquestionable. This is why God likes those who are absolutely honest with Him.” “My kingdom requires those who are honest, not hypocritical, and not deceitful. Aren’t the sincere and honest people unpopular in the world? I am just the opposite. It is acceptable for the honest people to come to Me; I delight in this kind of person, I also need this kind of person. This is precisely My righteousness.” From God’s words, we can understand that God detests and eliminates deceitful people and evildoers. He likes honest people, and only honest people can gain God’s blessings and enter His kingdom. So it is as natural for those who are crooked and deceitful and evildoers to be punished as a matter of course.
