This verse testifies that God is true light and that only God can bring light to those who live in darkness. As we all know, in this age of evil and darkness, mankind is living in Satan’s domain and is corrupt to the extreme. Man is controlled by satanic nature to act in spite of himself and to do whatever he pleases, struggling in corruption and sin. No person is able to see the true bright way of human life, nor does any person know what on earth the true meaning is of life. People are all living for themselves, living to pursue pleasures of the flesh, and struggling for their personal survival, fame, status and fortune. They are sinking deeper and deeper into corruption and sin and cannot free themselves, and have already fallen deep into darkness and extinction. Without God’s salvation, they can only be devoured and trampled by Satan in the darkness, and ultimately fall into perdition and be destroyed. Facing a world of darkness and evil, corrupt mankind feels utterly hopeless and helpless; they can only long for God’s salvation deep in their hearts. In this age of evil, only the truth God has expressed can bring us the true bright way, so that we can live in the words of God, live in the true light and be blessed by God. The Lord Jesus said, “I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come” (Jhn 16:12-13). The Lord Jesus told us that the Spirit of truth in the last days will express all the truth for man to be saved. Only by seeking to accept the truth God has expressed in the last days, can we gain His grace, His leadership and guidance, live in God’s light, obtain a genuine human life, and gain the true destination.
