And he that takes not his cross, and follows after me, is not worthy of me.

– Matthew 10:38

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

From this verse, we can see God’s requirements to us: To be followers of the Lord, we must have the will to suffer, and to forsake everything for Him anytime, even lay down our lives. In the time of the Lord Jesus, He came to complete a stage of work: to be crucified for mankind as a sin offering. When He became to know this was what He had been entrusted with, He felt heavy of heart. Yet He was willing to be mindful of God’s will to accept the commission, bear the cross, and walk from Jerusalem to golgotha … Although He was in a great pain, He prayed: “O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as you will.” In order to accomplish God’s commission, the Lord Jesus suffered so much. That’s the example that every Christian of us should follow.
