May 26, 2019—Jeremiah 17:14

Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for you are my praise.
– Jeremiah 17:14

Thought on Today’s Verse:

We can feel the prophet Jeremiah’s faith when reading this verse. This kind of strong faith is worthy of emulation. The reason why we feel helpless and anxious when encountering difficulties is that we lack faith. It is recorded in the Bible that when Job was tried, he stood testimony by faith. Because of his faith, Noah followed God’s instructions to build an ark and survived when God destroyed the world with flood. Peter developed a true faith in God in experience and finally was able to be crucified upside down. … Because of faith, they were approved of by God.

In a meeting, a sister shared her experience: Her daughter had a car accident and suffered comminuted fractures in her lumbar vertebrae. The bone’s breaking point happened to have pricked half her nerve, so she must undergo a surgery. But once she was slightly moved, the bone’s breaking point would probably cut off the whole nerve, leading to paralysis for her life. More crucially, now in the local hospital, there was no doctor who could do such a surgery, so they had to take her to the provincial hospital at once. Because if the best time for surgery was missed, there would be faint hope that she would be cured. At that time, the sister was so worried about her daughter. She then prayed to God and later a passage came to her mind, “The heart and spirit of man are held in the hand of God, and all the life of man is beheld in the eyes of God. Regardless of whether or not you believe this, any and all things, living or dead, will shift, change, renew, and disappear according to God’s thoughts. This is how God rules over all things.” She then had faith and the courage to face the reality. She entrusted her daughter to God and calmed down. At last, the surgery was successful and her daughter recovered very well without any sequelae. She was full of gratitude for God. And her faith in God was greater after this matter.

The sister’s experience inspired us and showed us God’s wondrous deeds. I remembered a passage, “The crucial thing now is that you are able to take action in accordance with My will, and those who do this will surely receive My blessings and be under My protection. … Why don’t you commit them into My hands? Do you not believe in Me enough? Or is it that you’re afraid I will make inappropriate arrangements for you?
