God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
– John 4:24
Thoughts on Today’s Bible Verse:
God asks us to worship Him in spirit and in truth. Although we often pray, we neither pray sincerely nor seek His will in prayer. We don’t carefully pray to God unless we encounter problems or difficulties and need His help. When we have much to do and do not have enough time, we utter a few prayers without feeling and are just following procedure. Sometimes we even don’t pray. In fact, the process of praying is also the process of worshiping God. If we cannot worship God in spirit and in truth according to His demands, our prayers won’t be approved of by Him. If we want to act in harmony with God’s will, we should quiet our heart before we pray, tell Him of our difficulties, and speak honest words within our hearts to Him with a seeking attitude. May God enlighten us so that we can understand His will and act according to His guidance. If we still haven’t seen God’s leadership, we should learn to wait and obey, and seek His will and magnify Him in all things. Thus, God will have a place in our hearts. May we seek to worship God in spirit and in truth, expressing our love of the Creator and the heart voice of a created being.
In addition, if we acknowledge that this or that is good about God at church gatherings but are detached from the word of God in our real life, then it can be said that there is no place for God in our hearts. God is God and people are people. If we still live the way that we lived before, if we rely on the same things that unbelievers rely on to do things and get by, then we are unbelievers. If we only use our mouths to believe in God and do not use our hearts to believe in God, we are not living in God’s words, we are people outside of the word of God. People outside of the word of God are, in God’s eyes, not real believers in God, they are hypocrites. They deceive God.
