January 1, 2019—Genesis 2:15

And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
– Genesis 2:15

Thoughts on Today’s Bible Verse:

God expresses His love for man from the creation of the world. From the verse, we see that after God created Adam, He didn’t leave Adam alone, but put him into the garden of Eden properly. He bestowed upon him the wisdom to manage all things on earth, so that Adam could name all kinds of animals. In Gen 2:15-17, God commanded Adam, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall not eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die.” God spoke clearly to Adam about what he could eat and what he couldn’t eat in the garden of Eden; He cared for Adam and wanted to protect him. From these various little things God did for man, we can feel that how deep God’s love for man is. Later on, Adam and Eve didn’t listen to God’s words, and they ate the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, but He didn’t give up on them and personally used skins to make clothing for them. God says, “God’s genuineness and loveliness can truly be brought out through doing something people think is unremarkable and insignificant, something so small that people don’t even think He would ever do. God is not pretentious. There is no exaggeration, disguise, pride, or arrogance in His disposition and essence. He never boasts, but instead loves, shows concern for, looks after, and leads the human beings He created with a faithfulness and sincerity.” From this we can feel that God’s love for man is real and sincere. He treats us in the same way parents treat their children, with meticulous care. There is no exaggeration and transaction in His love. Instead He considers everything scrupulously for man, and protects man with a faithfulness and sincerity. Thinking of this, how can we not give praises to God? Thank God for His love for us.
