So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. We cannot believe in God without God’s word. It’s clear that learning to listen to God’s voice is of utmost importance. We all know that the Bible records a story of a Samaritan woman. When she heard the Lord Jesus said: “For you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband: in that said you truly” (John 4:18), she said to the crowd: “Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?” (John 4:29). From these verses, we can see that the Samaritan woman realized from the Lord Jesus’ words that He is Christ, for she knew only God can watch over everything, know man’s innermost secrets, and can speak out her all things that she ever did. No one except God had such authority and power. So, when the Lord Jesus said to her about her husbands, she once recognized He is Christ, the Messiah. From her experience, it can be seen that her wisdom was that she could recognize God’s voice and that once she heard God’s voice, she could accept the truth, and thus gained the salvation of the Lord Jesus. Besides, we can see from the Bible that people, like Peter and Nathanael, also recognized the Lord from His words and followed Him. What kind of inspiration can these facts bring to us in the last days? At the crucial moment to welcome the second coming of Jesus, we should learn to listen to God’s voice like the smart Samaritan woman and Peter. Thus, we can welcome Jesus’ second coming.

Then how can we recognize God’s voice? Share several principles to recognize God’s voice.
1, All the word God expresses is the truth, and can be man’s life, supply man’s needs and give man a path to follow.
2, God’s word carries authority and power, and is an expression of His disposition.
3, God’s word can reveal the mystery of His management work.
4, God’s word can reveal man’s corruption and innermost thoughts.
