August 27, 2019—Luke 9:62

And Jesus said to him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

– Luke 9:62

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

Since we have chosen to follow the Lord, we should advance bravely without hesitation. Those who are overcautious and indecisive and love the world and covet material enjoyments are not worthy to enter the kingdom of God. The Lord Jesus said: “He that loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me” (Matthew 10:37). God hopes we can follow Him and love Him wholeheartedly, if we still grasp the things of the world while following God, we will become a pillar of salt, a symbol of shame like Lot’s wife. Share some of God’s words: “Renounce your fondness for the wealth of the secular world! Free yourself from the attachment to your husband and your daughters and sons! Renounce your views and prejudices! Wake up, for time is short! Let your spirit look up, look up and let God take control. Do not let yourself become like Lot’s wife. It is so pitiful to be cast aside! How pitiful indeed! Wake up!” Perhaps, today, we cannot give up our home, our children and the things of the world for God’s commission, but as long as we work hard for this goal, pay attention to equip ourselves with the truth every day, and act according to God’s words in everything, then there will always be a day when we will be able to meet God’s requirements. Amen!
