August 15, 2019—Psalm 63:1

O God, you are my God; early will I seek you: my soul thirsts for you, my flesh longs for you in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is.
– Psalm 63:1

Thought on Today’s Verse:

David was the King of Israel known by many people. However, he once wandered in the wilderness before being a king. He wrote this verse during that hard times. From this verse, we can see that his soul still longed for God and relied on God though he was undergoing sufferings …

However, when hardships and difficulties befall us in our life, many of us lack the heart to rely on God but blindly rely on our knowledge and caliber. At last, we usually end in failure and feel so tired. Still there is a group of people who choose to escape because they are lacking in faith. Our God is almighty, and rules over all the people, matters and things. If we don’t learn to rely on God in all that we face, how can we know Him? There’s a passage saying: “No matter how great or small their stature is or what their personal environment is like, something that they cannot be without is looking to God and relying on God in all things; this is the greatest wisdom. … Sometimes, looking to God doesn’t mean speaking clearly when people pray to God for something, or for God to guide them in some way, or for God to protect them; rather it is that, when they encounter some issue, they are able to call on Him sincerely. So, what is God doing there? When someone’s heart stirs, and they have this idea: ‘Oh God, I can’t do this myself, I don’t know how to do it, and I feel weak and negative,’ when these thoughts arise in them, does God not know about it? When these thoughts arise in man, are people’s hearts sincere? When they call on God sincerely in this way, does God assent to help them? Despite the fact that they may not have spoken a word, they show sincerity, and so God assents to help them.

It really reminds me of what recorded in the Bible: By relying on Jehovah God, Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt though the Egyptian Pharaoh was hardened, David defeated Goliath with a little stone though Goliath was tall and strong, Daniel was cast into the den of lions but came out safe and sound though the lions were savage. From these examples we can see: How important it is to rely on God at all times!
