April24, 2018 – Matthew 7:26-27

And every one that hears these sayings of mine, and does them not, shall be likened to a foolish man, which built his house on the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

– Matthew 7:26-27

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

In this verse, the Lord Jesus warns us not to be those who only hear the way but do not practice the way, such people are foolish and ignorant. The Lord’s words should be put into practice in our real life. When we listen to sermons, we feel the Lord’s words are all right, they are the truth, the way and the life. But when we are doing something, we cannot put them into practice. This means that we have not gained life. The Lord’s words haven’t become effective in us. Therefore, our faith in the Lord is only in lip service with no reality, just like the house built on the sand without a foundation. When the house is exposed to a little wind and rain, it will collapse. Just as the Pharisees, they were familiar with the Bible, understood much biblical knowledge, but they didn’t practice them. In the end, they nailed the Lord Jesus to the cross because of not knowing His work. And they suffered the curse of God. Today, if we have read many God’s words and heard much of God’s way, but don’t practice them, we will fall once some trials and tribulations befall us.
