Therefore whoever hears these sayings of mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, which built his house on a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat on that house; and it fell not: for it was founded on a rock.
– Matthew 7:24-25
Thoughts on Today’s Verse…
In this verse, the Lord Jesus teaches us that once we listen to the words of the Lord, we should put them into practice. This kind of people are the cleverest. For truth is to be practised. However much we practise the truth, how much we will gain the truth. The more truth we practice, the stronger our faith will be. It’s just like the house mentioned in the verse. If the house was founded on the rock, it wouldn’t collapse no matter rain or shine. After we have practiced much truth, and gained strong faith in the Lord, we will be able to bear testimonies for God, no matter what kind of suffering and tribulations, or a person, matter, thing that is not in line with our conceptions befall us. Peter never pursued fame or fortune all his life, but focused on following the Lord’s words. He especially paid attention to knowing himself, and knowing God in his experiences. If there’s anything not satisfying God’s desire, he would feel remorseful. That’s the reason why Peter gained the approval of the Lord Jesus.
