July 28 2018 – John 8:12

Then spoke Jesus again to them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

– John 8:12

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

God is the light of our life. When we meet with difficulties and frustrations, God’s word is the lamp to our feet and the light to our path, and gives us faith and strength. Just as David said, “For with you is the fountain of life: in your light shall we see light” (Psm 36:9).

God is the truth, the way, and the life. Only by following the footprints of God can we see the light in the darkness. For example, when the Lord Jesus did His work, those Pharisees, chief priests and scribes didn’t keep up with the steps of Jesus’ work but resisted and condemned Jesus. Consequently, they fallen into darkness and were punished by God in the end. By contrast, Peter, John and other people heard the voice of God and kept up with the steps of the Lord’s work. Therefore, they gained God’s steady flow of supply.

Now is already the last days, Jesus Christ will come again. If we can’t follow the Lord’s footsteps, then we will be abandoned by Him. But, how can we follow His footsteps?

I remember one passage, “As such, since we are searching for the footprints of God, we must search for God’s will, for the words of God, for the utterances of God—for where there are the new words of God, there is the voice of God, and where there are the footsteps of God, there are the deeds of God. Where there is the expression of God, there is the appearance of God, and where there is the appearance of God, there exists the truth, the way, and the life.” From these words, we know that where there is the expression of God, there is the appearance of God, and where there is the appearance of God, there exists the truth, the way, and the life. As long as we carefully listen to God’s words, we are certain to see the appearance of God, follow the Lamb’s footsteps and live in the light.
