July 3 2018 – Matthew 24:16-18

Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

– Matthew 24:16-18

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

I know from this verse that there is rare catastrophe at the time of the second coming of Jesus. The Lord Jesus admonishes us not to indulge in material things, wealth, pleasures of the world, not to look backward as we follow our hand on the plough, but wholeheartedly believe in God and follow God.

This reminds me of God’s destruction of Sodom. God saved Lot and his family because of his righteous deed. Before God destroyed Sodom, God sent two angels to tell Lot to take his wife and two daughters out of there and flee to the mountains. When they were outside of the city, one angel told them not to look back no matter what happened, otherwise they will lose their lives. That means, they should forsake everything to flee and not feel nostalgia for their physical property and easy life of the past. But Lot’s wife was nostalgia for her past life and looked back, so she became a pillar of salt and lost her life.

Now we all know that disasters are getting worse and worse, the prophecies of the last days have already been fulfilled, it has been the time of the second coming of Jesus. Reflecting upon myself, I also want to gain the heavenly blessings, but I still love the life in the world and cannot wholeheartedly follow God. God says: “The end of the world unfolds before your very eyes, great disasters rapidly draw near; is your life important or is your sleeping, eating, and clothing important? The time has come for you to weigh these things. Do not be doubtful anymore and do not shy away from being serious!” So I also make up my mind to be a person who can obey the command of God and act in accordance with God’s requirements, avoiding missing the chance to obtain God’s salvation.
