The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that you should come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
– Matthew 8:8
Thoughts on Today’s Verse…
From this verse we can see that the centurion’s confidence in God was great. When the Lord Jesus worked and preached in Galilee, few people acknowledged He is Christ and God Himself, moreover, the Pharisees colluded with the Roman government in slandering the Lord Jesus. As a result, many people rejected the Lord’s salvation. However, the centurion had never met the Lord Jesus. He just heard some of the work and deeds of the Lord, yet he could trust steadfastly in the Lord and believe that the Lord has power to heal his servant. The confidence of the centurion raises our admiration.
