Enter you in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads to life, and few there be that find it.
– Matthew 7:13-14
Thoughts on Today’s Verse…
The Lord Jesus taught us to enter the strait gate which leads to eternal life. This verse reminds me that many people measure whether it is the true way just according to the number of persons who have accepted. This is not the Lord’s will. Look back to the time that the Lord Jesus was working, only twelve apostles, the needy and the paralyzed who were looked down on, would like to follow Him. At that time, most people didn’t believe that the Lord Jesus was the Messiah, the Savior and what He preached. But, it turned out that what the Lord Jesus preached is the true way. Those chief priests, elders and scribes still stayed in the temple to keep the laws. There were too many of them, and they had too much power. However, why did they crucify the Lord? Why were they punished and cursed by God in the end? From the facts of the work of God, what few people accepted is not necessarily the false way, what most people accepted is not necessarily the true way. Especially regarding the second coming of the Lord, we shouldn’t follow the religious trend but measure according to the Lord Jesus’ words.
