For with God nothing shall be impossible.
– Luke 1:37

Thoughts on Today’s Bible Verse:

We can see God’s authority and His power. I think of God’s words, “‘And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.’ … When God said the words ‘Let there be light,’ so there was light. God did not embark upon any enterprise; the light had appeared as a result of His words. This was the light that God called day, and which man still depends on for his existence today. By God’s command, its substance and value have never changed, and it has never disappeared. Its existence shows forth the authority and power of God, and proclaims the existence of the Creator, and it confirms, over and over, the identity and status of the Creator.” When God speaks of light, there is light. And God saw that it was good. The words of God have authority and power, while the words of mankind have nothing special and cannot be fulfilled. This is the difference between the Creator and created beings. From that, we can understand that God’s authority and power are not possessed by any created being, and cannot be replaced. We also know the identity, status, and supremacy of the Creator.

Apart from creating the heavens and the earth and everything, God also did the work of destroying the world with a flood. In the Age of Law, Jehovah God issued the law through Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. When the Age of Grace arrived, Jesus Christ personally became flesh among men and did the work of redemption through crucifixion. The Bible says, “So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and to them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin to salvation” (Heb 9:28). We have been redeemed by Jesus and our sin has been forgiven because of our faith in the Lord, but our sinful nature still exists and we have not reached holiness. Therefore, we still need God’s second salvation so that we can be holy enough to meet the Lord. Only God can deliver and purify mankind. And this is the manifestation of God’s authority.
