And he answering said, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.
– Luke 10:27
Thoughts on Today’s Bible Verse:
When the Lord Jesus did His work in the Age of Grace, His greatest commandment for us was to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind; and our neighbor as ourselves. We all know God’s will and teachings are good. However, people are bound by the evil trends of the world, pursuing fame and fortune. Although they want to practice the word of the Lord, they cannot do it. Why? Satan makes use of various means to corrupt mankind, such as causing them to pursue fame and fortune. Once we have fame and fortune, we can satisfy our desires. If we want to love God with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind, we shall forsake fame and fortune and our fleshly enjoyments. It reminds me of a passage in a book, “That you must love God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength—means that your love of God must be wholehearted. ‘With all your heart’ means wholeheartedly; your love may not be diffuse, it must have your undivided attention, and you must not apply it to other areas. ‘With all your soul’ means that all of the predilections of your disposition are directed toward the love of God; ‘with all your mind’ means that all your thoughts are directed toward the love of God; and ‘with all your strength’ means that all the strength within your heart is directed toward the love of God. When you practice the love of God in this way, you will be someone who truly loves God and completely fulfills God’s will.” From this, we know that if we want to love God, we should always think about how to love God and devote ourselves to the gospel work. Regardless of hardships or setbacks, we can truly obey God without complaints. When we entrust everything we have to God, we will have the chance to be people who love and satisfy God. Being a God-loving person is commemorated by God. Such pursuit is the most meaningful.
