But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law does he meditate day and night.
– Psalm 1:2
Thoughts on Today’s Verse…
In order to give mankind a normal life on earth in the Age of Law, God decreed laws for them. If they kept these laws in their mind and abided by the laws, they were blessed. The laws and regulations issued forth from God in the Bible first cover the Ten Commandments, after which are the regulations for how to build altars, and so on. These are followed by regulations for keeping the Sabbath and observing the three feasts, after which are the regulations for offerings. … And then there are regulations for what should be observed during people’s lives, such as the regulations for what they may or may not eat, for the purification of women following childbirth; every one of life’s details is involved. Then what is God’s will in decreeing these laws and regulations? God says, “When God began the official work of His management plan, He set down many regulations that were to be followed by man. These regulations were in order to allow man to lead the normal life of man on earth, a normal life of man that is inseparable from God and His guidance.” “To God, people’s concepts of God, the world, and mankind in that age were abstract and opaque, and even though they had some conscious ideas and intentions, all of them were unclear and incorrect, and thus mankind was inseparable from God’s teachings and provisions for them. Earliest mankind knew nothing, and so God had to begin teaching man from the most superficial and basic principles for survival and regulations necessary for living, imbuing these things in the heart of man bit by bit….” “He knows what is within man, and knows what is lacking in man, He knows what He has to provide, and how He should lead man, and so too does He know what man should and should not do.” After reading God’s words, we learn that earliest mankind did not know how to live, so God set forth the law through Moses to standardize their behavior, guide them how to lead a normal life on earth, so that they would no longer be fooled or trampled by Satan, and no longer live lawlessly. God’s Ten Commandments and laws that He established are all just and honorable, positive things that can be proven through people’s consciences and reason. They can all make people understand God, shun evil, know what God hates and what He loves, and what mankind should uphold. If every country in the world would establish their constitutional law and rule their country according to the Ten Commandments and laws, they would certainly gain God’s blessings and their country would become much more orderly, and their people’s lives would become stabler. If everyone would accept God’s Ten Commandments and laws and live according to them from childhood, they would all be able to worship God, and then mankind absolutely would not be as corrupt as it is today. If mankind would live under God’s guidance, then they would gain God’s blessings and be the blessed ones mentioned in the verse.
