I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD.
– Amos 8:11
Thoughts on Today’s Verse…
In the late Age of Law, when the Lord Jesus came to work, the temple, once so full of Jehovah’s glory, became a den of thieves. The reason for this is that those who worshiped Jehovah didn’t accept God’s new words or follow the steps of God’s work, then they lost the Holy Spirit’s work and God’s care and protection, and were detested and rejected by God. Those who truly believed in God left the temple to follow Jesus, got the Holy Spirit’s work and thus obtained a path that they could tread. It can be seen that those who accept God’s words have the leading of the Holy Spirit while those who reject His words live in darkness.
In religious circles, the current situation of the churches is going from bad to worse. There is jealousy and strife between co-workers. Some believers have a fondness for this world, some are possessed by demons. A great number of believers are weak and lost in spirit. Although I run outside, I am empty in my heart. I have nothing to say in preaching. When preaching the repentance, I just repent without change. My spirit sinks downward and I live in a condition of committing sins in the day and confessing them at night. Faced with all of these, I cannot help thinking: Why are churches so desolate nowadays? Has God done a new work? It occurred to me that I have viewed God’s gospel of the last days online a few days ago. Thank God! I will seek whether it is the new work of the Lord.
